Hospital Stay

Sorry to anyone who has already heard the story or read posts about this.

Here's the story...

I was scheduled for my cervical check u/s on Friday morning at 7:30, it takes us at least a half an hour to get there so I woke up early. Had to run to the bathroom and started having loose stools, and awful upper side pain. Then I started throwing up (which as you know sucks when you haven't eaten anything.) I tried to decide whether to just go to my appointment or head to the ER as I was not feeling like this was a bug. We opted to head to my appointment.

We get there at just after 7 and from then until 10 minutes to 8 we were waiting. In that 50 minutes I spent nearly all of it in the bathroom getting sick and having more loose stools. I was freaking out that I was in early labor or something, but the doctors don't get to the office until 8. So I had to wait. They pulled me in for a quick u/s of my cervix which looked great at 4 cm long. And they put me in to see the doctor. She took a look at me and said, "wow you don't feel well do you." I told her what was going on and that I thought it could be my gallbladder. She sent me immediately to the hospital to be admitted for a few hours of observation, IV fluids and a u/s of my gallbladder. Once there they got me hooked up to the IV and sent me for a u/s. But they didn't tell me much about what the plan was.

The doctors decided to keep me since I wasn't able to eat, or drink anything. So my few hours observation then turned into an overnight stay for observation and IV fluids. The next day they told me I had to be able to eat and keep it down before they would let me go home. But they wanted me to have a consult with General Surgery before they let me eat, just in case I needed to be operated on. They came in and it was decided that it wasn't worth the risk to operate being I am pregnant with twins and my life wasn't in danger. So they let me have clear fluids at 7pm on Sat. I hadn't eaten since about midnight on Thur/Fri. I was able to keep it down with the help of Zofran and Phenergan. So my one night stay turned into 2.

I was able to have breakfast the next morning and again needed the help of the Zofran and Phenergan, and they said if I could keep lunch down I was good to go home. I kept it down and was discharged yesterday about 2pm. I am so SOOO happy to be home.

So I do have gallstones, and I have to be careful about what I eat and I have to watch for fevers. There is still a small chance I will have to have surgery but we are praying so hard it will wait until after the boys are born.

Thanks for reading my novel... sorry it is so long.
